INTRODUCTION

Teachers College (TC), in collaboration with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and w!se (Working in Support of Education), will host the 2017 TC Cowin Financial Literacy Summer Institute for educators from July 10–13. The Summer Institute will be based at TC’s West 120th Street campus (July 10th & 13th), with two full days hosted at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in the Financial District in Manhattan (July 11th & 12th).

WHY ATTEND?

Learn to use the case study method to teach financial literacy to high school and college-aged students. Engage students as problem solvers in some of the most compelling dilemmas and problems of personal finance.

The workshops will provide participants the tools and resources they need to support students to make good choices about budgeting, saving, scarcity, investing, consumption, borrowing, and opportunity cost.

NO FEE TO ATTEND

Thanks to the generous support of TC Trustee Joyce Cowin, accepted Cowin Fellows will be able to attend the Summer Institute free of charge. In addition, those who successfully attend and complete the full program will receive:

  • A Certificate of Completion from Teachers College that can be used for professional development credit hours
  • An opportunity to earn a Certification in Personal Finance from w!se
